Day 9000

Rembrandt - A Man in Armour

It looked like the easiest thing when I was starting this. I was like hell yeah, cakewalk. I'll do it in 40 minutes flat.
No. no no no a hundred times no, because i've been working on this at least 5 25-min blocs and it's still not satisfactory (so yeah i went over the 1 hour prescribed by the challenge, hope that doesn't become a pattern)

This turned out to be the greatest deception of the universe. I still can't understand why it's so hard.

and now I'm going to shove this in my WIP folder like a disgusting person and cry for the rest of my life because i'm too afraid of going anywhere near it  Llama Emoji 27 (Awesome) [V2]

tldr - I know this needs a lot of work, but i can't tell where because after a while I stop seeing things, so if you're gonna critique this please keep that in mind

UPDATE - Apparently I copied an edited version of the original. Now i understand why it was so hard. IT's all the oversaturated reds! i mean, i was fighting to bring out tonal values in a single colour with literally the lowest range of values out of all the colours ughh..

Please click here  if you want to see the abomination i studied. What a waste. I'm so sorry, I feel like i have wasted all this time playing yoyo or something

I haven't until now made a copy of a renown painting. However, what I can say as someone that never did it, is that for a work done in haste it looks great. If you were to reproduce a Rembrandt piece of art at 99% accuracy, maybe a week of study would have paid off. So, what we remain with is a great metal texture, don't worry about the reds, I think you can paint it in pink completely as long as you get the shading and lihts correctly, and keep on the great work.
Oh, and don't stay in the shadows of the old trees for too long. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=":) (Smile)"/>
